MSEA is proud to bring together all of our labor and trades bargaining unit members and provide a voice for labor and trades classifications to be heard within your Union and beyond. MSEA is dedicated to providing a voice for our public servants. If you are a member of the Labor and Trades Bargaining Unit, you are part of the Labor and Trades Division of MSEA. If you are unsure if you are a member of the Labor and Trades Division and work for the State of Michigan, Appendix A of the Collective Bargaining Agreement has a list of classifications that are within that bargaining unit. If you do not work for the State of Michigan but are represented by MSEA and your classification is trade centered, you are likely included in the division. If you still are unsure if your classification falls under the Labor and Trades Division, please reach out to us at AskStaff@msea.org. Example classifications include, but are not limited to: mechanics, transportation workers, laborers, painters, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, steeplejacks, plant operators, and welders.

MSEA Labor and Trades Division has a committee to guide the direction of the division and is chaired by the Labor and Trades Director. The Director position is elected at the Triannual General Assembly and is currently held by Brent Heyer. If you are interested in serving on the labor and trades committee please reach out to AskStaff@msea.org or Brent Heyer at bcheyer@gmail.com.
